Abstract
Present study attempted to study the effect of ‘Bhoot Shuddhi Kriya’ on Blood Hemoglobin of college going students. ‘Bhoot’ word is a Sanskrit word which means the elements or the constituents i.e. human body is made up of five elements (Earth, water, fire, air, and ether) and the bhoot shudhi kriya is related with the purification of these five elements. Because of the impurity in these elements, our status of health is also affected and one may suffer from different types of the diseases. There is a process for the purification of these elements derived by the prominent scholars of yoga. Students are the backbone of the society and nation. If they will live a healthy and longer life, then it will be good for them as well as good for the society and nation too. For the present study, a sample of 40 students (20 males and 20 females) from Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, between 18 to 25 years of age was selected. The students practiced ‘Bhoot Shuddhi Kriya for duration of 40 days with predefined instructions by the yoga instructor for 30 minutes daily (except holidays). The readings were taken before and after administering practices. The results showed a significant effect of Bhoot Shuddhi Kriya on Blood Hemoglobin. Good health is one of the greatest resources for vitality, creativity and wealth, while poor health in contrast significantly drains the aforementioned. Hence it is necessary for the students of higher education to induce a complete pranayamic technique through, which they can protect themselves from common disorders like, stress and anxiety.
