Human Resource Management Practices of Hotels: Satisfaction of Employees

Abstract
Human Resource Management in hotel industry is concerned with utilizing the manpower resources most productively. It is a process of bringing people and organizations together so as to meet the goals. By winning wholehearted cooperation, it tries to secure the best from people. An industry employees represent one of its most potent and valuable resource. It is essential that the employees are satisfied by the human resource management practices followed by the industry. Hence a study was conducted with an aim to assess the extent of satisfaction of the employees in hotel industry regarding human resource management practices followed by them. The study was descriptive in nature. A sample of 150 employees from the 15 hotels (10 from each) was the unit of enquiry. The data were gathered through a questionnaire in the month of January, 2015. The satisfaction scale contained sub aspects such as recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation and promotion. The findings of the study showed that the employees were moderately satisfied with the human resource management practices followed by the hotels in which they were employed. The feedback was given to the hotels and human resource managers for better practices of human resource management
